In Summer, Les Crosets opens up to a whole new world. The snow melts and gives way to lush pastures that lead to rustic local eateries and rest-stops. The sound of running streams and rivers flows through the Alpine air and instantly you are free from the stresses and strains of modern life and ready to indulge in numerous activities.
The charming atmosphere of the village and magnificent location mean that walkers, hikers and mountain bikers are falling over themselves to visit Les Crosets. Pistes melt to form an infinite number of hiking and all-terrain biking trails that attract biking entusiasts from across the world, who come to watch or participate in competitions.
With over 800 km of walks to choose from, including a 40 km long trekking circuit round the Dents-du-Midi - the wild limestone massif between the Val du Trient and Val d'Illiez, Les Crosets is a walker's paradise. The entire hiking trail runs for about 40 km and can be done in three to four days. Hikers sleep in the rudimentary huts that dot the way. The views along the way are impressive: varied alpine flora, crashing waterfalls, dense forests, blue lakes, white glaciers and open meadows. All trails in the region are well signposted and have approximate time to destination by foot at an easy pace.
Visitors can also enjoy the enchanting experience of a trek on horseback (from June to Mid-October, at Chez Gaby in Champoussin).
You will also find here the Point Sud adventure park, especially popular with the young. The crystal clear mountain lakes, shimmering in the sun, are ideal for a refreshing, mind-clearing swim after an exhausting walk or ride through the mountains.
There are some fantastic fishing stretches too and enthusiasts will love the Lac Vert, also the setting of a charming animal park with animals from around the world. As you will discover, there are few things as relaxing as fishing an Alpine stream as the sun dips over the horizon.
There are many events during the summer in and around Les Crosets. One highlight is the Foire du Bétail, an unforgettable event which showcases music, local artisans and traditions against a backdrop of local farmers conducting the very serious business of buying and selling their livestock. There are also all-terrain mountain biking competitions.
If the above is not enough then you are not far away from tennis courts, beautiful outdoor swimming pools, spectacular golf courses and the joys of Lake Geneva, stretched spectacularly forth beneath the mountains. We would recommend sampling the Montreux Jazz Festival if you are staying with us in July.
